Brooks Hickerson - "Plein Air" Painter of "South Waterfront"
Mr. Hickerson paints impressions of the Northwest. His "plein air" paintings are created outside in the long tradition of outdoor western artists. His subjects are landscapes, flowers, buildings and people of Oregon utilizing water media including watercolors, acrylics, gauche and ink. He has been painting full time since 2002 when he and his wife, Peggie, moved to Oregon from Colorado. Mr. Hickerson is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO), and the Oregon Society of Artists (OSA), and his paintings regularly appear in their shows. "South Waterfront" was painted while standing along South West Terwilliger Boulevard on a very cool day in May 2010. The painting image is 15 inches by 22 inches. It is painted with acrylic and ink on watercolor paper. The original "South Waterfront" is in a private collection at this time.
